It’s entertaining, but once I took an hour to reflect on the film as a whole, it became obvious that it really isn’t all that good.
Why praise a movie that panders, with a symbolic pat on the head, to the audience it is supposed to empower?
Hardcore fans of the comics may enjoy “Venom” more than an average moviegoer, but the film is ultimately too weird and confusing with an ending that’s just stupid.
“Deadpool 2” is smarter, funnier, and more violent than its predecessor and combines all the ingredients in a way that’s sure to delight fans.
Let’s hope Hollywood will listen and put more people of color both in heroic roles in front of the camera and in creative roles behind it.
