All these shadowy dealings behind closed doors on Capitol Hill just made me angry and filled with rage, and the film isn’t satirical or edgy enough to examine the narrative in a fresh or meaningful way.
“Bumblebee”
“Bumblebee” is a family-friendly, energetic surprise that injects fresh new life into the abysmal franchise.
“Mary Poppins Returns”
The prolonged musical numbers, coupled with uninspiring songs, ultimately prove to be the film’s downfall.
“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”
In this Western anthology film, the shorts that are the strongest more than make up for the flaws in the others.
“First Reformed”
The parallels of the destructive natures of polluters are likened to organized religion, as the poison is nearly one and the same. One may be destroying our planet, but the other could be destroying our souls.
“Roma”
The detailed artistry is outstanding, but visionary flair coupled with poignant authenticity doesn’t necessarily make an entertaining movie.
