“Now! More! Yes!”

“Now! More! Yes!” is a bizarre, utterly compelling slice of Americana that proves reality is, indeed, stranger than fiction. This documentary features TW Hansen, a blind used car salesman, landlord, and picture car coordinator who makes a drunken impulse buy (a run-down ambulance) with his boss’s money, setting off a strange and often hilarious chain of events. What starts as an eccentric profile of a man with an obsession for unwanted vehicles turns into something unexpectedly riveting.

For car enthusiasts there’s plenty to enjoy, from classic vintage finds to complete automotive destruction. But even if you don’t know a carburetor from a catalytic converter, the film’s offbeat charm and surprising twists make it hard to look away. Hansen’s sales philosophy, which is anchored in the simple but effective mantra reflected in the film’s title (“Now, More, Yes!”), becomes an oddly fitting metaphor for his own unpredictable life.

At a perfectly digestible runtime, the documentary never overstays its welcome. It unfolds like an old-school human interest newspaper story, offering a hyper-focused yet revealing glimpse into a subculture few knew existed. You may not expect to care about TW Hansen and his fleet of oddball vehicles but by the time the film ends, you’ll be glad you took the ride.
