“The Blackening”
Packed with timely social commentary about stereotypes and “blackness,” this sophisticated horror satire is uncomfortable, whip-smart, and a whole lot of fun.
“Carmen”
An ambitious, beautifully filmed, avant-garde melodrama that’s a lot of style over substance.
“Sisu”
A skillfully crafted action film with an absorbing dramatic arc that quietly builds into a deafening crescendo of bloody, gory, Nazi killing.
“Aftersun”
This beautiful story of memory, love, and heartache packs quite the emotional punch.
“EO”
As an animal lover, the poignant “EO” truly spoke to me and affected me deeply. It’s one of the most beautiful and meaningful films of the year, both inside and out.
