It may not be flush with innovation, but it’s an enjoyable reunion that revives the irreverent spirit and fun of the original.
The story is generic and predictable, but what’s the harm in an easy-to-swallow rom-com that makes you feel good?
“Flower” mixes teenage angst with bouts of (supposed) dark comedy that takes inherently risky material and nearly destroys it with utter implausibility.
“Before I Fall” is a reminder that high school is torture and being a teenager really, really sucks.
It wouldn’t have taken much to improve this movie, and given the acting talent involved I’m surprised that more effort wasn’t made to do so.
