This is senior citizen catnip that younger people can also enjoy, although the message to seize the day may not resonate as strongly with those under 60.
“Deadpool 2”
“Deadpool 2” is smarter, funnier, and more violent than its predecessor and combines all the ingredients in a way that’s sure to delight fans.
“Life of the Party”
I do applaud the film for placing a greater focus on verbal wisecracks and refusing to use McCarthy’s real world physique as a cheap punch line.
“Tully”
There’s a decent story trapped somewhere inside that’s just waiting to get out, but “Tully” sadly misses the mark.
“Sweet Country”
Although at times it’s uncomfortable to watch, the film works as a distinguished, forceful statement on integrity, authority, and bigotry and is a strong entry for the genre.
“Overboard”
This is a perfectly passable example of what I call ‘cotton candy’ entertainment. It’s light, fluffy, and makes you feel good until you get the inevitable too-sweet tummy ache later.
