“The Wait (La Espera)”
A moody, masculine folk horror revenge thriller that deals with grief, guilt, class, and the darkness of human nature.
“The Creator”
A mediocre sci-fi epic that uses big ideas as a stand-in for actual character development. The lack of follow-through is as maddening as it is lazy.
“Smugglers”
Suffers from a mediocre script, characters that aren’t engaging, and an exhausting repetitiveness that quickly wore me down. I can see how this action caper will appeal to some, it’s just not for me.
“Seagrass”
A devastating relationship drama that exhibits a profound understanding of grief, tension, and the emotional insecurity that can undermine the foundations of a family.
“Quicksand”
What it lacks in laughs, this bromantic comedy caper more than makes up for in effort.
