If this grossly tedious and nearly unwatchable film is meant to be an epic finale to the popular young adult series, it fails on all accounts.

“A Futile and Stupid Gesture”
The sometimes goofy and oftentimes playfully irreverent retelling of Doug Kenney’s life story seems to fit the man well. Fans of the Lampoon era and their later offshoots will find much to savor here.
“Hearts Beat Loud”
Director Brett Haley and his longtime co-writer Marc Basch make sweet music once again in “Hearts Beat Loud,” a beautifully low-key, heartfelt, small scale story of how music aids us in speaking our inner truth.
“Search”
“Search” bows to average moviegoers who aren’t in the business of challenging themselves, and this movie has all the subtleties of a t.v. movie of the week.
“Lords of Chaos”
Films don’t often leave me speechless but after the final credits rolled on “Lords of Chaos,” I was so stunned and shocked that I felt like kicking a baby and running to a back alley to throw up.
“American Animals”
This is an engaging true crime film that’s all about conflicting perspectives and is also thoroughly entertaining. And if you’ve ever daydreamed about plotting a robbery of your own, it will remind you that you probably aren’t as smart as you think you are.
